Stone Age Movie Makers

In the summer of 2012, an intriguing theory has been proposed and published which explains why there are multiple limbs and heads on some of the animals depicted in the cave drawings in Lascaux, France.

The goal of these prehistoric artists was to depict animated movements — "retinal persistence". When the paintings are viewed by the flickering torchlight, the animation effect becomes prominent.
